This garden armchair is developed from the
Peacock Armchair but with a gracefully
curving back rail supported on a high slatted back and with back legs featuring a
classic 'flame' finial.
The classic Edwardian design was developed from 'Pyghtle A Design' originally made by
White's of Bedford. I renamed my design the 'Edwardian' after the classic Edwardian
period of gardening. An original example of this seat is shown in Gertrude Jekyll's book
on Garden Ornament and Country Houses. I gracefully interpreted the original drawing of
the design in the book to an elegant piece of furniture with a strong emphasis on the
strength of the construction and the classic design.
