This garden chair is based on the the design of the Hatfield garden furniture which
is found in J P White's Catalogue of Garden Furniture of the early 20th century. But
its design origins go back into the 18th century. Similar designs can be seen in window
and fanlight designs of many Georgian houses. Glazed bookcases and chairs feature this
design in Chippendale, Hepplewhite and Sheraton furniture. Features of the Hatfield
design can also be found on an Umbrello's Seat ( tree seat) in Charles Overs's pattern
book' Ornamental Architecture' published 1758.
I interprets those drawings and features of the Hatfield design and transform them into
a beautiful piece of garden furniture you see today. In addition to the Hatfield dining
chair, the Hatfield seats are also available in several sizes : Armchair, two seater,
three seater, and four seater benches. |
