The Medium Edo seat is a scaled down seat of the large Edo seat. The Edo Collection has a strong Japanese influence and
is named after the Edo period in Japan. The Edo period was equivalent to the Georgian period in Britain, and much garden
development occurred during this period. Many gardens still remain from this period throughout Japan, especially in
around Kyoto. The profile of the seat is taken from a feature found on a wooden balustrade at Katsura Imperial Villa in
Kyoto. The seat back is reminiscent of the sun and the suns rays rising over the Japanese landscape and incorporates the
simple rectangle common in Japanese furniture and architecture.
