This heavy back Chinoiserie two seater garden bench is based on the distinctive Chinoiserie design which
uses a traditional design developed from the work of Frederick Crace for his Master piece – The Music Room
at the Brighton Pavilion c1818 for the Prince Regent. Frederick Crace 's grand father had been the first
keeper of the Royal collection to George III and it is likely that Frederick had been influenced by the
flood of oriental works of art coming into England at that time. In Andrew Crace 's Chinoiserie collection,
the new classic Chinoiserie design is incorporated with the Hadham bracket used on the rail at the front of
the seats and around the table rails.
The simplified and stronger construction of the Heavy Back two seater back detail makes this seat more
substantial and give it a more rural look when compared to the
original Chinoiserie Collection.
The Heavy Back Chinoiserie
garden seat was originally developed for Kensington Square's
garden in London. Inscriptions can also be carved upon
request.
